One of my favorite things to photograph is track. Living in Arkansas and being the Razorback photographer during part of the John McDonnell era has taught me to love track and to appreciate the athletes. Some of the most remarkable athletic feats that I have ever witnessed were during track and field events. The University of Arkansas is home to one of the best indoor and outdoor track facilities in the country and we host lots of track meets, SEC Championships and NCAA Championships. When Arkansas host different track events the incoming schools will hire me to photograph their athletes for usage on their websites and to go along with their stories and galleries online. This year we hosted the 2016 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships and I was hired to shoot for Georgia, Kentucky and LSU.
I tell everyone I know that if you have not been to a indoor track meet, you are missing a true Razorback experience. This year the Razorback Men’s and Women’s track teams won the SEC Championship and it is so great for fans to call the Hogs and celebrate with the track teams. Razorback fans are waiting for football and basketball to win another championship and it is actually happening all the time with the track teams. The Women’s track team won the NCAA Indoor Track Championship last year for the first time ever. To be there and to feel all the emotion surrounding Lance the head coach and the athletes was exciting. You should have been there.
This is a gallery of some of the images I uploaded to the different schools. At 4:30 on Saturday the women’s high jump started, the men’s and women’s triple jump started, women’s pole vaulting started and races on the track started. It is crazy trying to keep with all the events and athletes.
